harri kanta (the song of the stone) is an interactive audiovisual project, a stage for 7 fantastic creatures who inhabit and sing the landscape of Euskal Herria (Basque Country). Between reality and fiction, (pre)History and stories, this piece is a journey to the core of an alternative history of Euskal Herria, exploring the idea that it is still inhabited by genies from its forgotten animist mythology. What emerges is a fable that interweaves tales of resistance (to Christianity, industrialization, the French and Spanish administrations, patriarchy, capitalism…), folklore and queer theory.
Visitors can explore different timelines to meet the creatures in the form of a first-person “video-game”. The magical artefacts of the characters are the controllers. They will activate different versions of the experience.
harri kanta is orchestrated by Juliette Lizotte and made possible by a network of collaborators from Euskal Herria and the Netherlands:
