Born in Belgrade, Jasna Veličković is a composer and performer based in Amsterdam. She studied composition and piano at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, then continued her postgraduate study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She has written around 70 compositions using a variety of musical instruments ranging from solo instruments to compositions written for orchestra with live electronics.
Since 2008 she became interested in various layers of interference between magnetic fields and music. This became her ongoing research whose aim is the creation of tools that facilitate playing on instruments or objects using the transformative acoustic possibilities of the electromagnetic field. This gradually led her to the invention of the new instrument, Velicon a tactile electroacoustic instrument made of magnets and coils.
